My work focuses on differentiation of human Embryonic Stem Cells (hESCs) to functional and mature adult cardiomyocytes, by epigenetic regulations. We are differentiating hESCs to beating cardiomyocytes following defined protocol of Wnt pathway activators/ inhibitors. My goal is to fully mature these cardiomyocytes by exposing them to certain mechanical stress as well as using co-culture of various cell types, by using a certain technology provided by our collaborator.
